01 / SNOWMELTGive melting snow
somewhere to go.
Connected surface voids allow meltwater to leave the wearing course instead of collecting in shallow puddles. A drained base helps reduce the conditions that contribute to refreezing. Ice can still form during freezing rain, blocked drainage, or prolonged cold; winter maintenance remains part of the plan.
02 / FREEZE–THAWSpecify for the cycle,
not just the season.
The winterized resin-bound technology has published freeze–thaw testing reporting no measurable strength loss in the tested composite. The site still needs stable support, positive drainage, and the correct construction details. Material testing does not guarantee a frost-proof installation.
03 / SOILSClay changes the design.
It doesn’t end the conversation.
Where testing identifies slow infiltration or expansive soil, a stone reservoir, controlled underdrain, or lined detention assembly may be appropriate. Do not direct uncontrolled infiltration toward foundations. Geotechnical recommendations establish subgrade treatment and setbacks.
04 / SUN & STORMSNatural stone in the sun.
Intelligent drainage in the rain.
Specify the UV-stable resin system and evaluate samples in direct sun and shade. For storms, size storage and outlets to the site’s contributing area and design event. Surface permeability alone does not establish the system’s stormwater capacity.
